The power of women: In conversation with Barbara Klinka-Ghezzo

  • How do you position yourself as a woman in a male domain?
  • How do women appear in order to be seen and heard?
  • What do women need to voluntarily step out of the shadow of the second row?
  • What do women need to learn to be successful?

I put these and many other questions to Barbara Klinka-Ghezzo, Managing Director of CONFARE GmbH, in this fascinating interview at one of Vienna's most beautiful locations.

My enthusiasm for some statements has not diminished even after listening to them for the 10th time.

I am curious to know which ones YOU find particularly valuable and, above all, we are interested in your answer to my final question.

walk4future - launch of an international movement against fast fashion

Press release

Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey, known as the first Best Ager finalist at Germany's Next Topmodel, achieved with her project walk4future another milestone: after covering around 1,500 kilometers from Klosterneuburg to Paris on foot alone in 2024, the second edition in May 2025 became an international community campaign.

More than 60 participants from Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland - and even the USA - took part in the "walk&save" challenge virtually. Together, they covered almost 5,500 kilometers and gave up fast fashion and unnecessary purchases for a month. The result: a saving of around 9,000 euros - i.e. an average of around 140 euros per person.

"This money can be invested in better clothes, education or simply in good times - for yourself or with others," says Gleissenebner-Teskey. At the same time, this is just the "tip of the iceberg": a sign of the growing self-determination of those consumers who no longer allow themselves to be told what they need - but make conscious decisions for quality and enjoyment of life.

The initiator's vision is ambitious - and measurable:
"Only 25 % of the population can initiate social change. In Germany, that would be 21 million people. If each of them spent 100 euros more consciously every month, we would move 2 billion euros. That is real market power."

Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey speaks not only as a model, but also as an ecologist, communication scientist, coach and activist. Back in 1998, she organized the first "Trade Fair for Sustainable Lifestyles" in Austria - with great idealism, but also financial losses. After an international corporate career as a brand manager, the founding of a successful coaching business and her participation in GNTM on her 50th birthday, she now uses her fame to inspire people to more self-determination and sustainable consumption.

"The greatest power lies in our decisions: Where do we direct attention, energy - and money? What I choose grows," she explains.

walk4future aims to start right here: with the psychology of everyday consumption. The walk4future playfully invites people to break through routines - with movement, reflection and exchange. The aim is to build a strong, internationally networked community that consciously uses its consumer power - for itself, for others, for a better future.

And it goes on: The next walk4future campaigns will take place as early as fall 2025.

Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey will be happy to answer any queries or interview requests.

Between heaven and earth: nature as a co-coach

While you're watching this video podcast, I'm already on my way to Amsterdam, the first stop on my walk4future 2025. First of all, I will be attending a conference on sustainable materials here and then I will be leaving here on May 1st to head back to Frankfurt.

So this is the perfect time to talk about the possibility of seeing nature as a coach or at least incorporating it into a coaching session. I spoke to systemic coach Ingrid Mülleder, who shares some exciting scientific findings with us and gives specific tips on how you can use nature to work on issues and make progress in every area of your life.

Let the nature shots in the background inspire and relax you. It has been scientifically proven that even just looking at a picture of nature has a positive, balancing effect.

As always, you can also listen to the podcast - wherever there are podcasts.

walk4future 2025: Why from Amsterdam to Lodz?

Many people have asked me how the route of this year's walk4future came about.

  • Didn't I want to go around the world once?
  • Didn't I want to cross the pond to the USA?

As always and everywhere, I asked myself the question of meaning.

You can read the thoughts on this at https://walk4future.com/blog/ read more.

What ultimately tipped the scales were two cornerstones and a big anchor in between: my community, which is simply greater in Germany (besides Austria) than anywhere else in the world. And that's why I hope for beautiful, invigorating and inspiring encounters from time to time.

The two corner points between which the walk is suspended are as follows:

1. the Sustainable Apparel and Textiles Conference, from 29.4. - 30.4. in Amsterdam

I am convinced that the sustainable future of fashion lies in the development of new materials (as one of 3 B-pillars: 1. better production, 2. more conscious consumption, 3. biodegradable materials). That's why this conference is a must for me.

2. the Urban Future Conference from May 21-23 in Lodz

Because by then I had wandered through some of the most important cities in the fashion and finance industry and had a few ideas on the subject of "walkable cities = sustainable cities" have to contribute.

SALTO: On Heidi Klum, criticism of capitalism and the fashion of the future

Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey and Lou-Anne Gleissenebner backstage during the filming of GNTM 2022

"But we have to look at this system, which is neither fair nor forward-looking."

Martina Gleissenebner-Teskeyon the subject of capitalism

In the Interview with the South Tyrolean fashion blogger Susanne Barta are you very critical of capitalism, do you want to abolish it?

I have been working intensively on this question for several years (laughs). We have created an absolutely efficient system that promotes motivation, but which is now gradually becoming absurd. Money, the central value in capitalism, no longer has the value it should represent. Exchanges with money used to make sense because the exchange of goods for goods is less efficient. But if we now consider which goods and services are really of value, they are no longer properly represented by money.
